ABOUT THE RESEARCH

When I began this fellowship project in the summer of 2024, I envisioned an initiative to connect school and college librarians regarding the issue of students transitioning from K-12 to higher education. However, over the course of the year it became apparent that the looming specter of library censorship must be addressed in any discussion about libraries or librarians. To address the rapidly changing times, I created a short survey and recruited high school librarians and academic librarians to respond.

Below you’ll find the two issue briefs that emerged from this study. “Libraries and Censorship at the Onset of the Second Trump Administration” explores the experiences of librarians and censorship in the first few months of 2025, and “Supporting Student Information Literacy During the Transition to College: Connection & Collaboration Between College and High School Librarians” focuses on the potential for collaboration between high school and academic librarians to better support students during the transition to college through increased information literacy.
